The Denver area has lots to offer the auto enthusiast.
Whether you’re into shows, races, or off-road opportunities there’s almost always something going on during the summer!
From classic muscle to the latest hyper cars it’s a great place to see, show, race and just take in one of America’s most beloved hobbies. But Colorado winters are Serious Business and outdoors or on the road might not be the best place to keep your pride and joy when it gets cold and the roads are icy.
Conveniently located between Denver and Colorado Springs, Castle Rock Auto Storage offers secure climate controlled storage from folks who will treat your special vehicle like their own. Our facility features 24 hour surveillance not only for cars and trucks of all ages and sizes but also for motorcycles, ATVs, UVs, jet skis, and snowmobiles, all with or without trailers.
Any time you’re planning to store your car for longer than a couple of weeks there are some things you can do to get it ready and make sure it’s the best possible condition when you return to use it again.
Protect Your Paint
A thorough cleaning of both the inside and outside of the vehicle may sound obvious but they are easily the most important cosmetic conditioning that you can perform. A hand wash (never automated – your paint will thank you) followed by at least one coat of protective wax is always recommended, and you may want several coats of wax if you have custom or extremely detailed paint.
Upholstery
When you’re storing with us you won’t have to worry about UV damage or temperature fluctuations, but at least a cursory cleaning and vacuuming of the interior is always recommended not only to prolong the life of your upholstery but it’s also just very nice to come back to an immaculate driving experience after some time away.
Tire Care
The condition of your vehicle’s tires is one of the most important aspects of longer term storage as they will still have to do their job even when the vehicle isn’t in use. Clean your tires with warm soapy water as dirt and dust can cause tires to crack and rot over a long period of time. It also goes without saying that filling your tires to the proper recommended PSI should be done before storage.
Engine
The engine is obviously the most complicated and important part of your vehicle and whether you are storing a sports car or a jet ski, the engine should be in peak condition prior to storage. Powerplants vary widely even among vehicles of the same type so you may want to consult with a qualified mechanic for details (especially with high performance engines). At the very least you should plan on fresh fluids for the motor, cooling system, and brakes, you may also want a full tank of gas and look into fuel stabilizers. Though this can vary depending on the configuration of your fuel system.
Battery Upkeep
Your vehicle’s battery can be one of the most fragile components for long term storage. Spilled battery acid can be completely catastrophic to your engine bay, so depending on your situation you may want to disconnect or remove the battery completely. However, CR Auto Storage offers battery trickle to keep your battery at top performance.
